Christmas is only 24 weeks away. Booking your Christmas entertainment early is key to securing the best entertainment for your children's party. Here is my guide on things to consider for your festive event.
1. Book Early
Christmas is the busiest time of year for entertainers — popular dates disappear fast!
Simon opens his Christmas diary months in advance and always encourages early booking to secure your ideal date. Weekend slots go quickly, so don’t delay!
2. Choose an Entertainer with Child-Friendly Experience
Kids need someone who knows how to connect, manage energy levels, and keep things fun and safe.
With years of experience performing for children, I know how to keep little ones entertained, engaged, and laughing — all while maintaining control of the room. I aim to be as inclusive as possible and have been trained on entertaining children with additional needs.
3. Look for a Festive-Themed Show
Christmas is all about magic, sparkle, and fun — your entertainer should add to the festive spirit.
My Christmas shows are bursting with festive cheer! I can tailor each event with seasonal magic, Christmas games, and balloon creations to fit the festive theme perfectly. My favourite game is the snowball race. I also play dress the snowman, fun quizzes and guess the mystery object.
4. Know What’s Included
Clear packages mean no surprises — and it helps you plan the rest of the party.
I offer flexible Christmas packages that include a fun-packed magic show, balloon modelling, and festive games — everything you need in one hassle-free booking.
5. Match the Entertainment to the Age Group
What works for toddlers may not work for tweens — and mixed ages require extra care.
I adjust my shows to suit the average age range of the children at your party, ensuring every child — young or older — feels part of the magic.
6. Ask About Insurance & DBS Checks
For schools and community venues, public liability insurance and background checks are often required.
I hold full Public Liability Insurance through Equity (£10m) and a basic DBS check (not officially required in a non-supervisory role but good to know) , this gives organisers peace of mind that they’re hiring a true professional. I also have risk assessments and safety checks.
7. Read Reviews & Recommendations
Word of mouth and genuine reviews are the best way to spot a top-quality entertainer.
The majority of my work comes from repeat business. I perform for many regular clients each year, it's great to entertain the same children and watch them grow up each year. I have glowing testimonials from happy parents, teachers, and event organisers across the UK.
You can read them on Sicromagic - Customer Reviews/
my Addtoevents profile
and my google page.
8. Check the Venue Requirements
Some performers need space, power, or time to set up — make sure your venue is suitable. its important to consider ease of access (especially in bad weather) is it near a main road which is more likely to be treated if icy, is there a carpark, disabled access if required. do they allow you to put up your own decorations and give you time to set up and take down the room? Some venues have restrictions on christmas lights, smoke/snow and bubble machines. always check with the venue before you book. It is always best to book your entertainment first and then look for the best venue.
My show is fully self-contained and can work in all sorts of venues — from school halls to village centres and even smaller private rooms. I can have a chat with you ahead of time to ensure everything runs smoothly. venues must be accessible for me to get my equipment in. If upstairs, a lift may be required to set up my full show.
9. Consider the Duration
Why it matters: Too short and kids may feel disappointed, too long and attention spans fade. Consider the age and abilities of the children. offering alternative entertainment e.g. a baby corner, craft table, bouncy castle, facepanter etc so that everyone is included.
Where possible, I offer flexible timing options to suit your schedule — from 45-minute magic shows to full 2 hour party packages with games, balloons, and more.
10. Don't forget the adults too!
As a parent, the number of parties and events they need to take their children to in the run up to Christmas can be challenging to say the least. When planning your children's Christmas party, Don't forget the parents!! Offer a tea/coffee table, self serve snacks etc so they can help themselves leaving you able to relax and enjoy being host. Encourage parents to join in the celebration and enjoy the entertainment. My show is full of amazing magic and dad jokes that will keep the mums and dads baffled entertained as much as the kids!
